JOINT MOBILIZATION

Joint mobilization is the precise use of skilled, graded forces to move a joint in a desired direction. It is a specific technique for the capsule of the joint itself. Gliding of the joint is used to improve motion and normalize joint function. Joint mobilization also helps with reducing pain.

EDUCATION AND ADVICE

We provide education and advice to empower and motivate so that you get results. We promote independence through education in correct body mechanics and movement, self-treatment instruction, enhanced strength, improved flexibility, and postural and movement awareness.

EXERCISE PRESCRIPTION

As physiotherapists, we utilise specific exercises to promote your recovery. Exercise may consist of stretching, strengthening or cardiovascular exercise that will help you move and function better.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

Deep tissue massage involves applying firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles). It relieves chronic aches and pain, as well as to release contracted areas such as a stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.

TRIGGER POINT THERAPY

Trigger points, or muscle “knots”, are sensitive spots in soft tissue. They are very common, often very painful, and they usually present around injuries. They may be a major factor in back and neck pain, as a cause and/or complication.

MYOFASCIAL TISSUE RELEASE

Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle, sustained pressure to the myofascial connective tissue to eliminate pain and restore motion. We use a multitude of Myofascial Release techniques and movement therapy during your one-on-one therapy sessions.

ULTRASOUND THERAPY

Ultrasound therapy is the use of sound waves to treat medical issues, especially musculoskeletal problems like inflammation from injuries. The sound waves, which are above the range of human hearing, are used treat injuries such as muscle sprains and strains, tendinitis, bursitis and runner’s knee.

DRY NEEDLING

Dry needling, also known as myofascial trigger point dry needling, uses a “dry” needle (one without medication or injection) which is inserted through the skin into areas of the muscle. The primary aim is to relieve muscle pain and cramping, but it may also help to improve your flexibility. The technique results in the deepest tissue release, allowing for improvements in movement and pain.
